New Members Coffee Morning

A coffee morning of new members to get to know one another and to meet the committee will be held on Tuesday, 6th September 2011 at the Baptist Church, Basingbourne Road, Church Crookham, from 10:30 am to 12:00 noon. All new members are welcome to drop by.

Fleet U3A Open Day

The 2012 Open Day will be held on Wednesday, 18th April in the Harlington Centre, Fleet, between 11:00 am and 12:15 pm.

U3A Quiz Challenge

This will be held on Friday, 14th October 2011 at the Victoria Hall, Hartley Wintney. Group are invited to enter tables of six and the price includes a Cream Tea.

Art Exhibition

There will be an exhibition of Fleet U3A members' drawings, painting and calligraphy at the United Reformed Church Hall on Thursday, 21st June 2012 from 12:00 noon to 5:00 pm.

Unless stated, monthly meetings are held at the Harlington Centre, Fleet on Wednesdays from 11:00 am until 12:30 pm. Admission charge is £1.

September 21 :
“Old Man Climbing Kilimanjaro” - Ken Brazier
Ken fundraises for his charity "Mercy Ships" by climbing and cycling.
October 19 :
“Saddle Sore in Montana” - Ann Chance
Hilarious account of becoming a cow girl in her sixties..
November 16 :
“Dickens at Christmas” - Vera Hughes & David Weller
A selection of seasonal writings - a dramatised reading in Victorian costume.
December 9 :
Christmas Lunch
at the Victoria Hall, Hartley Wintney
From 12 noon until 2 pm
January 25 :
“Bygones and Music Memorabilia” - Derek Talmage
Rescheduled from last year - Derek will bring and demonstrate a variety of musical instruments, some 100 years old.
February 15 :
“Hampshire Mills and Millers” - Tony Yoward
All mills have an interesting history, not only the buildings, but also the millers and their families.
March 28 :
“Tulips and Turbans” - Cherrill Sands
History of tulips and their connection to the Ottoman Empire.
April 18 :
U3A Open Day (see panel on right)
May 16 :
Annual General Meeting followed by
“Fleet Pond Society” - Colin Gray (Chairman)
The history, value and risk of losing Fleet Pond.
June 20 :
“Food for Thought” - Neville Lyon
A trip down memory lane - teashops, corner houses and hotels and, of course, the “nippies”.
